Distribution Research

The traditional distribution plan is good starting point for distributing your magazine. There are three levels to the conventional distribution plan: the producer, the wholesaler, and the retailer. The retailers are pitted against wholesalers, and wholesalers try to beat the producers. This sometimes works to detriment the whole system. The wholesaler will sometimes try to pass the wholesalers and go straight to the retailers. This promotes the wholesaler to go against the producer's product and drop them. You can modify traditional distribution channel, producers can use two-level distribution framework, which sells directly to distribution or they could go straight to the manufactures. The distribution plan can be influenced by my product, and how the costumers will view the magazine. The traditional distribution is distributed by magazine wholesalers, which spread the magazines through out supermarkets, drug stores, convenience stores, and transportation outlets. I would utilize this model to distribute my magazine by using a two-level distribution that sells directly to distribution then a manufacturer. The manufacturers will then distribute my magazine throughout supermarkets, drug stores, convenience stores, and any beach/travel store.

Marketing Plan

Based on my research in to the marketing of other magazines, I have decided how I want to market my product. I will be marketing my magazine by exposing it to social media. I will make an Instagram page that promotes my "Coastal Guide" magazine. On the page, there will be pictures of some of the vacation spots included in the magazine edition. This page is going to be sponsored so regular Instagram viewers will be exposed to my magazine. The posts will also include subscriptions to my magazine, so new viewers will be exposed to it Another engaging way to promote my magazine is by creating internet ads. While other users are browsing websites, ads for my magazine will pop up to promote my magazine. I believe this is an effective way to advertise to new readers. Lastly, my magazine company will advertise our magazine brand on billboards. This will create view for anyone driving by or even walk. The billboards will engage new customers because they will be big and bold for everyone to see.

The "get lost" magazine, has a similar target audience to my magazine. Like my magazine, this one is a travel magazine to an island escape. The age intended for this magazine is most likely for any looking for travel to an island escape. I can determine that younger adults would like this magazine. The gender intended for this magazine could be intended for anyone that is interested in traveling. The geography in this magazine includes Chile, The Ganges, South Dakota, South Korea, and York's Viking festival in Europe. The income level for this magazine is most likely intended for the middle class or upper class. Magazine Target Audience #1

The target audience of the California magazine, is similar to mine. The main age range for this magazine is for younger adults or older people looking for serenity. I believe this magazine is more for women because usually women are planning travel. The geography in this magazine represents California. The income level for this magazine is probably suited for the middle class or intended for those looking for their first vacation. The education level for the the readers is intended for those good with financial experience, so they can plan readily for their vacation. My magazine and this magazine are both intended for travel and for those looking for a relaxing vacation. The California magazine has different editions for different places to visit.
While researching this travel magazine, I found that the magazine makers marketed their product by including the magazine online as digital print. One of their editions included Mario Lopez on the cover page. They used celebrities to persuade readers to read their magazine. If celebrities are visiting these vacation gateways, you should too. The form of media that was used was print media, so this magazine can be found in stores. The magazine was also posted online for viewers to read.

Revised Table of Contents
For my revision, I changed my background color to a solid color from publisher. The neutral colored background, allows my fonts to be more visible to the readers. To the side of the page, I added the date, issue, and page number, similar to my other pages. I also got rid of some of the page entries, to make the page look cleaner. My new entries now match up with my flat plan, unlike before. Lastly, I added my magazine name in the top left corner of the page.

On my revised cover page, I removed the bar code on the bottom left corner of the page. After removing the bar code, I added more of the white outline waves to fill the blank spot. To add, I increased the font size of the white and yellow text at the bottom of the page, and centered the white text.
